Paris is one of the best places I have ever visited. The city is beautiful, there is so much to do and it really doesn’t have to be as expensive as everyone makes out! We visited everywhere we wanted to go and more.
Of course, we visited the Eiffel Tower. I really enjoyed going up although we walked up the stairs rather than taking the lift (possibly a mistake). The view from the top is extremely beautiful. However, if your time is limited I much prefer the view from Sacré-Cœur and would recommend this over The Eiffel Tower.
Sacré-Cœur is a church, which in itself is beautiful to visit and go inside. Although, the surrounding area is probably my favourite place we visited whilst in Paris. The authenticity of the place is what I really liked. It didn’t feel ‘too touristy’ as The Eiffel Tower may feel. It’s a truly unique place and I strongly recommend going!
The Louvre is also another place we visited, we were super worried that after queuing for over an hour and a half the price to get in would be extortionate- but if you show a European passport it is actually free! We didn’t stay for very long but you could definitely spend all day here (I did find the Mona Lisa very disappointing especially because we spent so long looking for it) but some of the rooms are truly spectacular.
Another famous landmark is The Notre Dame, I felt like we couldn’t go to Paris and not go. It was amazing though, especially the inside and definitely worth looking at.
In terms of getting around, it’s extremely easy. We used the metro which literally stops at every stop you can ever need. The best way is to buy a day pass and this allows you to travel as much as you would like throughout the day, so take advantage of all the places the metro and the trains can take you. Eating also isn’t too expensive. On one night we ate at an Italian overlooking the Arc de Triomphe and it really wasn’t too expensive at all. Overall, if you haven’t been to Paris I really recommend going, there is so much to do and it is one of the best places I visited last year!
